I am guessing that the 'J. Nicholson' of South Shields in the 1860s and 1870s (the first name 'James' is given by Di Felice) is the 'J. Nicholson' of Newcastle who played for Tyneside and Tees-side in 1888 and for the North of Britain in the 1890s.
