Notes:
The Illustrated London News, 24 Oct. 1874, p.403, has Rev. T.H. Archdall, but in the 15 Aug. 1874 issue, p.164, it has Rev. H. Archdale. Harding gives T.H. Archdall, but in personal communication he says that Archdall changed the spelling of his surname at some point to 'Archdale'. Sergeant (p.161) has 'Rev. J.H. Archdall'. Forster (p.86) gives his date of birth as 1844; Harding (personal communication) gives date of birth as 1843 and date of death as 1924.
