In 1838 (Bell's Life in London, 5 Aug. 1838, p.2), 1842 (Le Palamède, 2nd ser. v.1, 15 June 1842, p.319) and 1844 (Chess Studies, p.ix) he was 'Captain Robertson'; in 1849 (Illustrated London News, 29 Sept. 1849, p.219), 1850 (Chess Player's Chronicle, v.11, p.130), 1851 (The Chess Tournament, p.lxx; Illustrated London News, 5 Apr. 1851, p.273), 1852 (Illustrated London News, 30 Oct. 1852, p.355) and 1853 (Chess Player's Chronicle, v.1, pp.201, 313; British Chess Review, v.1, p.51) he was 'Major Robertson'; in 1867 (Illustrated London News, 9 Nov. 1867, p.523) and at his death in 1874 (Illustrated London News, 12 Dec. 1874, p.571) he was 'Colonel Robertson'. |
