Notes:
Burt (The Bristol Chess Club) says Kennedy died in 1879. The Illustrated London News of 9 Nov. 1878 gives his obituary. Gaige says he died 22-10-1878. An early obituary appeared in teh 19 June 1875 issue of the Field. Called 'Major Kennedy' in the Illustrated London News of 12 Apr. 1845 (p.233), but I haven't seen this elsewhere.
