Notes:
Gilberg, Hillyer, Lange and Reichhelm say he was born in 1805. Sarah's Morphy website says he was born in 1808, but she also quotes Max Lange, who gives 1805. Gaige gives his birth date as 23-09-1804. The Spirit of the Times of 16 Apr. 1859 has 'T.T. Thom0son' [sic] as treasurer of the New York Club, but it is clear from other sources that it was James Thompson.
